EU plans to amend pesticide 1-methylcyclopropene residue limit

According to the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA), in accordance with Article 12 of the European Regulation (EC) 396/2005, the EU expert group reviewed the residue limit of the pesticide 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) ( MRLs), the EU Food Safety Authority issued an assessment opinion on July 2. After corresponding evaluation, the expert team decided to continue to maintain the residue limit of 1-methylcyclopropene in pears, plums, persimmons, kiwi, tomatoes, and Brassica plants of 0.01 mg/kg, while clethodim is found in apples, bananas and animal origin. The residue limit in the product needs further evaluation.
